I think I have been through every stage of diet and exercise except the healthy part. As a child and teen I was underweight and struggled with Asthma. Then I grew-up, and was still underweight, but had severe problems with pain, low-blood pressure and chronic illness that resulted in brain surgery for an Arnold-Chiari Malformation. This February is 2 years since my brain surgery. I am happy to report that the surgery was a success! However, there were and always will be side-effects. Prior to brain surgery my pituitary gland failed. Which basically means I went through adrenal fatigue, and then adrenal failure. I have to take high-dose steroids to stay alive, and steroids mean weight gain.
So, here I am two-years after brain surgery, considered medically obese, or at least 50 lbs. overweight, and still have asthma and chronic pain. I have found an amazing pain management specialist named Dr. Gephardt and freely and willingly recommend him to any Las Vegas resident. (I get nothing from this recommendation other than knowing I have helped someone find a kind and caring doctor who truly wants to treat his patients pain). He is the 10th pain management specialist I have seen over the last two years. I have degenerative changes in my spine, bone spurs along my c-spine, bulging discs in my lumbar region, and a really bad case of PTSD from being so sick for so long.
All-in-all I know that exercise and diet play a huge role in how we feel, and in our health. I am not the picture of health that I hope to be! While I may not look like the consultant or trainer you want, I can guarantee that if I haven’t been through it, I know someone who has, and I am the one you need. I get tired. I get pain, and I totally get depression, frustration, isolation, loneliness, binge eating, emotional eating and trauma. I also have an undergraduate degree in Psychology!
So – this month I am doing Beach Body’s 21 Day Fix® EXTREME. I will also be testing Shakeology. I have already researched Shakeology as a dietary supplement/meal replacement and love it! The vegan version is gluten-free and dairy free, and I have tested the dairy version with pretty decent results. I am not a fan of milk or whey protein, but these shakes didn’t make me sick like most others have. I have tried just about every shake on the market, and love the flavor and consistency of Shakeology.
To join me on this journey, you can get your own Shakeology and 21 Day Fix® EXTREME Here!
Also, if you sign-up I am giving away a lot of free nutrition and wellness goodies. Please enter the giveaway by leaving me a comment telling me you have joined my challenge. I will send you an invitation to my private coaching group!
I will also randomly select winners to receive prizes like exercise bands, meal plans, my favorite workout DVD’s and so much more!
I look forward to joining many and helping many on the journey to wellness!
From The Beach Body Website:
Is Shakeology certified as Gluten Free? Is Shakeology allergen free?
Shakeology is not certified gluten free. Although Shakeology is made with gluten-free ingredients, all Shakeology formulas are in a manufacturing facility that also processes known allergens such as soy, milk, egg, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts and wheat (gluten) ingredients. While our manufacturing procedures follows strict, required FDA Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), which include immediate cleaning and breaking down of equipment after every production batch and proper air filtration systems as precautionary measures, the possibility of cross-contamination can never be 100% eliminated, therefore we are required by the FDA, to include a warning that addresses this.
Individuals with gluten concerns should consult with their doctors before consuming any supplements.
Also: Please consult a doctor before beginning or changing any weight-loss or diet program. I am not a doctor, and can only offer my opinion!
