Ralph Breaks the Internet – And Giveaway

*Ben and I were able to see a preview of this movie for free in exchange for our honest review. As always, the opinions are mine. The giveaway is all mine and not affiliated with any other entity.     Video-game bad guy Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) and best friend Vanellope (voice of Sarah Silverman) leave the comforts of Litwak’s arcade in an attempt to save her game. Their quest takes them to the vast world of the internet, a world Vanellope wholeheartedly embraces—so much so that Ralph worries he may lose the only friend he’s ever had. I love how Pixar and Disney consistently offer movies that grow with us. Ralph Breaks the Internet is one that we enjoyed for different reasons because Ben and I are at different stages in life, and I can see it being a movie we can continue to enjoy throughout our...

Avengers: Infinity War Thoughts From a Mad Titan

Damon First: Let’s start this off with I am a big fan of the comics and the infinity stones. I bought the Infinity Gauntlet Series when it first came out, I bought the Infinity Wars Series, and the Infinity Crusades when they came out and I wanted to see this . . . but I have to wait a whole year for this to end. Now to the movie. It was awesome, grandiose, dark, game-changing, and even fun every so often. You will love the interaction of characters in this movie. They are what I have waited for. No spoilers but here are few pairings I want you to think about.  Tony Stark (Billionaire, Playboy, Philanthropist) and Doctor Strange (Alpha Male Surgeon, Sorcerer Supreme) are fantastic and should not be left alone together. Thor (“I don’t get that reference.”) and Star Lord (nothing but references) should have had more time...

Alice Through The Looking Glass – Review

As we waited in line for the movie, my son talked about how this was going to be the best movie ever. He could not wait to see his favorite character, the Cheshire Cat, and has been reading the books at school. We got to preview this movie in exchange for our honest review. If you are familiar with Alice in Wonderland, or like Tim Burton movies, this is a great addition to the story. I like Alice and I was not disappointed. Alice had so much more “muchness”  and action this time that you loved her from the start of the movie all the way until the end of the credits. The movie was made for the 3D effects and everything you watched had the depth and feel you would expect from Tim Burton’s Wonderland. The addition of Time to this movie reminded us of a Doctor Who episode...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens – Passing the Torch

My family is a bit on the nerdy side. My husband loves all things Star Wars and collects Boba Fett everything. My son had Star Wars toys before he was born, and his first real word was “Palpatine”. When we took him to Disneyland for the first time, he was in love with Darth Maul and tried to hug him. (He was 2, and Darth Maul was having a hard time keeping a straight face.) So when I got the opportunity to preview and review Star Wars: The Force Awakens, I was overjoyed. Never mind that I have been sick since Thanksgiving, I was there! The new Star Wars movie was awesome! I am trying really hard not to give away anything because my husband and son have not yet seen it. I am super excited to go with them to the theater and enjoy their joy! The movie was...

Ant-Man – One Small Step for Marvel

Disclosure: We received two tickets to the Disney/Marvel Premier of Ant-Man in exchange for our honest review. As always, opinions expressed on this blog are my own, or that of my husband and kid. My wife brought me because I am a huge nerd that has read comics for a long time. I know what is going on and I get a lot of the references that she may miss. My wife is a good female presence and a bit of a nerd herself. Now we have a 10-year-old that has alternated attending with me or my wife to some of the movies and helped to review them. He is autistic, gifted, ADHD, and all sorts of a nerd himself. He tells us where the scary parts are and what parts are funny to a 10-year-old boy, which are weird spots. We love being able to attend and review movies...

He and his father both wanted to go, but in the end he won, because Dad...

They are the awful, don’t talk to me, touch me, or...

Nature’s Sleep is having a promotion! Use the code BEARS50 to get 50% off the entire site as well as free shipping. I am saving up for one of their fabulous mattresses. Hopefully it won’t take too much longer as our mattress is getting old. My son could really use a new mattress too. So, I bring up mattresses cause I think they’re cool and because fatigue is a huge part of my life. Sometimes there are nights and days where I cannot sleep because the pain is overwhelming and/or I am just to wound up. I have tried several types of sleeping medications, and techniques. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. It just so happens that I have all kinds of sleep issues. I have trouble falling asleep. I wake up every morning between 2-4 and have a hard time going back to sleep, and then once I’m asleep...

Disney’s Delivery Man

We love Disney and they are coming out with several great movies this summer! Delivery Man is about a guy who discovers that he has several (okay hundreds) of children due to a mix-up at a sperm bank. What follows is a hilarious and heartwarming adventure as he tries to figure out what it means to be family, and the purpose that brings to life.

Friday Night Fun!

My goal is to blog daily, but I’m still working on that. We’ve had a rough marriage with a pattern of medical and then financial difficulties. I am very hopeful that we are starting to see the light at the end of that tunnel, and am trying to focus on what life will be like when that is different. First we want to adopt. Infants, a sibling group, slightly older children, we really aren’t picky. What we are is broke. 🙂 So we are saving and budgeting and working extra hard to not incur unnecessary expenses. My husband tutors most days of the week, and already has a summer job lined up. I am budgeting, meal planning, and working to create a blog and media business. I love blogging, and writing, so maybe I’ll freelance. There are lots of opportunities out there. If I get a lot better, then I...

365 Days of Mickey Sweepstakes by Pixie Vacation

My family loves Disneyland. We would gladly go to Disney World, and the Disney cruises if we had the funds. When I first got sick, it was imperative to me that I take my son and husband to Disneyland and create great family memories. As my sickness has dragged on that wish to create memories has not waned, but our finances have prevented us from returning as regularly as I would love. We were fortunate to be able to take my son on two fabulous vacations to Disneyland, and we have great pictures, memories and family bonds from those visits. To us it truly is the “Happiest Place on Earth”. I would take my family back every year if I could. One day I may even get to take them over my birthday, which is the day after Christmas. I have always wanted to see Disneyland at Christmastime. Their...

2013 Goals

Rather than overwhelm myself with a years worth of goals, I am going to go month by month, and hold myself accountable via the blog. I divide my goals into categories, and usually like to have a written plan in my planner, and set deadlines, as all the wonderful experts suggest. The good news is that I am very driven and tend to achieve my goals. The bad news is that I often try to do too much. Family – Get  therapy and other interventions in place for Benjamin. Make family time “fun” therapy times. Establish weekly date nights with my husband. Spiritual – Read the Book of Mormon Pray out loud at least once daily. Physical – Exercise daily – I have joined a Dahn yoga studio and need to go everyday. We also have a Disney dance program for the Wii that will be awesome, and I need...

Birthdays and Giveaways

Today was my son’s birthday party. We played with Legos. It was the easiest party ever. Legos, cake, and presents. They all had a blast and my son is overjoyed with all his new Lego sets. His Aspergers makes him obsessed with Legos, so today was his favorite day ever. He even got to go to Target and pick out some thanks to gift cards from friends. He was so excited he couldn’t stop jumping up and down this morning and now he is exhausted. I don’t want to fail to mention the tragedy in Connecticut, but it is so sad, that I don’t have words. My husband teaches at an elementary school. The fact that the world is becoming more and more dangerous terrifies me, yet somehow I still have faith that most people are good, there is a life after this, a God who looks after us, and...

Gogobot Review

My husband and I went on our honeymoon to San Francisco. We would love to go there again for our 10th anniversary this year. So when I learned about gogobot I was anxious to see what new things a romantic trip for two might have to offer. We may also decide to bring our son so he can have the opportunity to see the areas near where his Dad grew up and where we were first a married couple. San Francisco has amazing museums and gardens that he would adore. Either way, it is a dream trip, and one that we will eventually take. I would definitely stay at the Palace Hotel. It is a gorgeous hotel with amazing gardens, beautiful rooms, and great reviews. According to reviewers, it has a heated pool on the 4th floor, which we would love to use, High Tea at noon every day, and...

Bricks 4 Kidz

Bricks 4 Kidz is a national company that teaches children pre-k to high school through Lego’s and Duplos. They offer summer camps, school programs, birthday parties and more. My husband is working there this summer, and I think I was just hired as a social media consultant, and possible special needs teacher, which would be totally awesome. My son goes to most of the summer camps with his Dad and adores them. He will build all day and then come home and build some more. I love it. He is with friends, creating and exploring and learning and growing. I even got into it and built a Star Wars vehicle all day today. It was a lot of fun. They take all ages and stages, and they are super sweet with the kids. It is a fun day, broken up by snacks, games and other activities between building an assigned...
